Being A Mom Is In the Greatest Commandment

Today is a day to honor not only biological mothers but also those who have embraced the role of 'mom' in someone's life. Mothers can take many forms, including adoptive mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, aunts, guardians, or mentors. It's a moment to celebrate these remarkable women who generously give of their time and unconditional love. While motherhood can sometimes feel like a thankless job, remember that your love and sacrifices aren’t in vain, and one day the impact will be very evident. Motherhood is a journey with highs and lows, challenges, and triumphs, but through it all, your unconditional love will always be remembered, as one day, they grow up and recognize the sacrifices you made for them.

As mothers, we bear the burden of guiding our kids through every event, every obstacle, and I know too well the challenges of raising babies into teenagers and eventually into adults. The influences our kids encounter on their journey can have a significant impact. If I can offer up any advice to you beautiful mothers out there, it is rooted in the greatest commandment reflected in Matthew 22:37 and also the Old Testament verse of Deuteronomy 10:12, which tells us that we must love God with all our heart, soul, and mind.

Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." Matthew 22:37

The directive to love God wholeheartedly should be the cornerstone in raising our kids. By abiding by this directive to love God above all else, we set an example through our actions, becoming a primary example for our kids and even future generations. It's in this paradigm of love that we foster compassionate and loving individuals who will navigate the world with love first for God and then also for others. Therefore, I believe in emphasizing this explicit and beautiful commandment from God to love Him wholeheartedly as the fundamental principle for both your life and your children's lives. Don’t take shortcuts and don’t take the easy road when things look bleak. As the mom of your household, love God first because if you do then everything else will follow the proper course for you and your kids.

In closing, I want to express my gratitude to all you amazing mom’s out there for prioritizing your faith and setting an example for your kids to do the same. As mothers, we represent Jesus to the world and serve as His hands and feet. The influence you have on your children is immeasurable, and your love is invaluable. This Mother’s Day, you are cherished and respected. Continue to guide your children in the ways of the Lord. Stay resilient during tough times and find strength in the good ones. Let Jesus guide your decisions in raising your children, and let the Lord be the solid foundation as you raise your kids into adulthood. They too shall embark on this journey of life and you ‘Mom’ are the most important role model.

Happy Mother's Day!

“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, Deuteronomy 10:12
